Setting up the Board

Backgammon is a two-player game. The game is played on a board consisting of twenty-four narrow triangles called points. As demonstrated in the photo, the triangles alternate between colors. The board is separated into four quadrants with six triangles in each quadrant. The ridge going down the center of the board is called the bar. Each player has 15 checkers and their own pair of dice. A doubling cube, which is used to keep track of the current stake of the game, contains the numerals 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64 on its faces.
